Is there an internet monitoring program that just records website and search terms?
Q. I am looking for an internet monitoring software that doesn't totally compromise privacy. I would like something that would send an email (or post on a website) the internet addresses that the user went to and the search terms that were entered but no passwords, screenshots etc. Pretty much just a record of the history. Do any such programs exist?

What search terms should I use when looking for dental books?
Q. I usually search for oral health, dental health. If I search for dentist I get concerned the book results will be basic kids books. Also I try to search for gum disease or periodontology and the more sophisticated words.
Asked by john - Sat Apr 3 17:24:39 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The search terms you are using are a good place to start, but what kinds of search terms you use depend on where you are searching. For example, if you are using a public library catalog and use "dentist" then you're right, you may get children's books, but if you're using a university library catalog, you are less likely to get children's books. Some catalogs will allow you to truncate words to do a search that gives you variations of a word. For example, you could try periodont* and then you could books that have the words periodontics, periodontist, or periodontology. You should also try dentist* to get dentists, dentist and dentistry. The Library of Congress uses the term "dentistry" in its catalog and most academic (university)… [cont.]

Could someone get in trouble for search terms entered into Google.?
Q. I had to use some search terms in Google once, which could be seen in the wrong light if interpreted the wrong way. Even if there is no ongoing criminal investigation, could Google still find those search terms and get me in trouble. I already know that Google tracks your search terms and can link them to you and your computer. Please answer, I'm a little nervous about this. Thanks.

A. If your search looked something like this: How to assassinate the President without getting caught How to blow up major US buildings How to take over the world Then MAYBE, if they had some other reason to believe you were a crazy terrorist bent on world destruction they would come after you. With a clean criminal record and a one time search of something bad they won't care. Don't sweat it, you're fine!

How do I write my own program that collects data on what search terms led to my webpage?
Q. For example. Any other links or recommended sites to visit about this? Also, is this the only way to do it?

A. Take a look at my other post:) All the submissions do not work... The only way to allow those keywords to be placed on the engines is to allow your website to be online for a period of time. Google works on pagerank, the more the links to your website the popular it is. You have to somehow let google / yahoo/ msn know that your website is live... To do so is by submission to their database. Goto each website and see the submite website link there. What that does is it allows you to have a chance to let google take a look or anyother webengine take a look at your page for a small period of time. Be aware that your website should meet its needs. This is called Search Engine Optimization. For instance Google is looking for: 1- Links -… [cont.]

What search terms to enter to find returning friends whose Yahoo Personals profile become active status again?
Q. Entered every word I could think of. The search results may be correct since my friend maybe isn't active right now. Should my search be as simple as the name my friend used before? Or am I not going about the search in the correct manner, order of search terms or type of search terms? Thank you! Robby
Asked by Robby The Robot - Tue Dec 12 17:59:40 2006 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. your best bet is to save the profile. that way you have a record of it. you can occasionally scan the saved profiles to see which ones have become active recently. if you are going to search, search on a keyword that they may have used in the past and then sort the profiles by most recent logon. that might work!

A. Well I would suggest using keywords that people in sudden crisis hunt for when in need of a councelor. Life Grieving, abuse, marital. Alot of abused people would type in a search engine... "i feel crazy" "am I crazy" "crying all the time" and "what is wrong with me" "black sheep" is probably another good one. "loss of loved one" "failed relationship" Also, would like to know what your services charge? May would use sometime. Thanks for your time, and God bless.

A. Go to this free website and type in your domain name - It will show you the most frequently used words on your site. These are the words people will have to use when search to find your site, because this is what Google thinks your website is about. If you don't like what Google sees, then change around the words on your site.. add/remove words until it looks just right.

A. Depends on your browser and toolbar. If you are using IE (and really why haven't you switched to Mozilla Firefox?) and you don't have a Yahoo toolbar, then go to Internet Options, go to Contents tab, Click on Autocomplete and Clear Forms. Clearing your history will clear the browser window, but not the search bar. If you do have the yahoo tollbar, then there's a pencil next to the window, just click on it and do a clear searches. If you have Mozilla (congrats, you have a safer and more stable browser), just go to Tools/Options/Privacy/Sav ed Forms and clear forms. You can also uncheck the Save forms and search bar option.

Now left click on the word Properties until the Internet Properties Window opens for you. Then locate the three buttons entitled: Delete Cookies, Delete Files and Clear History. Now click on each button and select OK each time Windows asks if you want to delete these files. Then click on the OK button at the bottom of the screen to exit the Internet Properties window. Note: The above six step procedure will work for all earlier versions of Windows as long Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher is installed on that system.
