From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Titus Livius (59 BCE – CE 17), known as Livy in English, was a Roman historian who wrote a monumental history of Rome and the Roman people, Ab Urbe Condita Libri, "Chapters from the Foundation of the City," covering the period from the earliest legends of Rome well before the traditional foundation in 753 BCE through the reign of Augustus in Livy's own time. He was on familiar terms with the Julio-Claudian family, advising Augustus' grandnephew, the future emperor Claudius, as a young man not long before CE 14 in a letter to take up the writing of history. Livy and Augustus' wife, Livia, were from the same clan in different locations, although not related by blood. From Wikipedia under the

Answered by archigenes - Wed Oct 1 20:52:52 2008 Some questions about the name LIVY?
Q. 1. Do you think it can stand on its own as a proper name? 2. Are there any things it could be short for (I don't like Olivia or Elizabeth)? Thanks for the help =] Asked by - c - Sun Mar 28 14:17:59 2010 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments A. I think Livy COULD work as a full name on its own, but it does have quite a cutesy sound to it - I'm not sure it'd age very well as a full name, and I think it could sound a little childish on a grown woman. I think the name Liv works better as a full name - it sounds a little more sophisticated and mature, and you could always use Livy as a nickname when your daughter is younger. Livy could also be a nickname for; Livia. Livinia. Livana. Livanna, Livaun. Elva. Elvie. Elvia. Viola. Alivia. Elvira. :] Answered by Pixie. - Sun Mar 28 14:27:19 2010 From Yahoo Answer Search: "livy" Titus Livius (around 59 BC - 17 AD), known as Livy in English, wrote a monumental history of Rome, Ab Urbe Condita, from its founding (traditionally dated to 753 BC) through the reign of Augustus.
